Yesterday the City of Whittlesea Pathway for Carer Yesterday the City of Whittlesea Pathway for Carers walking group met at @merndacommunityhouse  where we #connected and  #socialised whilst enjoying a leisurely stroll then enjoyed a lovely morning tea @turners_mernda

Todays walk went ahead despite it looking a bit ov Todays walk went ahead despite it looking a bit overcast. It was great to see such a good turnout where we could #connect and #support each other.  We enjoyed a lovely stroll around Caulfield then headed back to the @Caulfield_South_Community_house garden for a scrumptious morning tea. Thank you Veronica for a very informative session on  #myagedcare,  to Randy from @brotherhoodstlaurence  and the wonderful Ken for facilitating todays walk. Everyone's efforts are much appreciated.

We hope to see you all  next month!

Participation in gambling increases with age, with Participation in gambling increases with age, with 78% of Victorians aged 65-74 years participating in some form of gambling. Social isolation is a major driver of this, but often what starts as a social activity can escalate to a point where older adults are gambling far more than they can afford. 

Featuring speakers with lived-experience of recovery from gambling harm, this virtual info session is recommended for Gippsland professionals working in the aged sector.

On Friday Jenny Warfe & Margaret Wilson from the M On Friday Jenny Warfe & Margaret Wilson from the McCrae Homestead Coastal Group met the McCrae Pathways for Carers walking group and gave a fantastic history lesson on the McCrae lighthouse and maintaining the indigenous vegetation along the McCrae foreshore. If you're a local and want to identify plants in your garden, the rotunda has a panel of images and information on the local vegetation. Afterwards, we headed across the road to the Wildflower cafe for some scrumptious soup and cakes where we exchanged stories around some of the responsibilities, successes and challenges faced by carers.

We had a wonderful turnout for our Frankston Carer We had a wonderful turnout for our Frankston Carers walk this morning. We didn't let the cooler weather deter us. There were many discussions around some of the challenges of managing children with Autism, caring for aging loved ones and Alice and Michael gave a presentation on how to register and access supports at Alfred Health and what they offer. Thanks to everyone that came. It was lovely to see you all there.

Today Pathways to Carers and Nillumbik Shire met a Today Pathways to Carers and Nillumbik Shire met at the Diamond Creek Community Centre to join carers in the community for our monthly carers walk and stopped by the Diamond Creek Tram cafe for a spot of morning tea and some chit chat. The cafe is run by volunteers in a restored W-Class Tram. They make the most amazing coffee and have some lovely cakes!

If you're a carer looking to connect with other carers whilst enjoying some of the beautiful Nillumbik scenery and fresh air, please feel free to join us. We'd love to see you on our walk next month.

We had a great turn out at our South Yarra Walk on We had a great turn out at our South Yarra Walk on Monday. Thank you to everyone that attended. It was so lovely to meet you all.

We met at the South Yarra Senior Citizens club then walked to the lovely Botanical Gardens to soak up some of the glorious sunshine and scenery whilst having the opportunity to connect with Carers. We shared some stories of the journey to find nursing homes and respite for loved ones and Robyn from the EACH  Family Relationship and Support for Carers group shared with everyone  the services and supports that they offer. After our walk, we headed to @domainbrasserie where we enjoyed a scrumptious morning tea. Facilitator Lara from @cityofmelbourne hopes to see you all again next month.  Thanks for coming!
